Ipswich’s own star returns to the Jets!

Josh Cleeland, a pivotal member of the Ipswich Jets 2015 Intrust Super Cup premiership and NRL state championship winning side, is coming home and has signed with the Ipswich Jets in 2019.

Cleeland was signed to the Cronulla Sharks NRL side in 2016, but spent the 2017/2018 season playing for the Canterbury Bulldogs in their Intrust Super Cup competition. He was identified as one of the best halves/ five eights in the competition, winning the 2018 NRL – National Interstate Cup and taking out Man of the Match honors for his extraordinary efforts in the Grand Final.

Ipswich Jets Coach Shane Walker, said, “Josh Cleeland coming back to the club is bigger than the Melbourne Cup and the Boxing Day Test on the same day! Simply put, he is one of the best players in the Intrust Super Cup”.

“The supporters of the club have every reason to get excited”, added Ipswich Jets Chief Executive Officer, Richard Hughes. “The influence and experience Josh can give the team, both on and off the field, will add another level to what is already an amazing group of lads.”

Josh is thrilled to be back in Ipswich and with the Jets family. “I am looking forward to playing in the green and white again and representing the City of Ipswich” said Cleeland. ‘After training with the boys, I am confident that we will be a force to be reckoned with in the QRL Intrust Super Competition in 2019”.

The Ipswich Jets have their first game against the Townsville Blackhawks in the QRL Intrust Super Cup Competition on March 10, which is also our Defence Force Appreciation Day.
